Once again, we had a great turnout for our past race, especially when considering the threat of bad weather, which never materialized. I was happy to see several families join us for the first time in the series.

The weather looks good for this weekends final race of the series. We hope to see some more first time faces for the series. The competition level remains unmatched, Columbus is the place to come and race in the Winter.

It should be exceptionally exciting this weekend as there will be a feature spread on us in the WEEKENDER portion of the local newspaper, The Dispatch. Additionally, and perhaps even more exciting, the local ABC television affiliate will be broadcasting live from the event in the morning. We are hopeful this can bring attention not only to the event, but to our sport. Plan on being there early to see if you might get on TV!

I see there are some tight points battles, this will be fun to watch them unfold and champions crowned.

Thanks again for the support of the Series. We'll look forward to seeing everyone back this Saturday, February 22nd.

Soliciting comments from Heavy 160 competitors with last years UT1 engines.  I'm told by USAC reps that track testing confirms the UT2 produces a significant two tenths faster lap times than last year's UT1.  2014 rules mandate new Light 160 UT2's utilize an equivalency plate to grandfather in last year's UT1 engines, but not Heavy 160.  The reason given - USAC wants to increase the speed of the Heavy 160's, which is a valid initiative and keep the Light 160's at the same speed.  The net result is, if you run Heavy 160, you'll need a new UT2 engine this year to keep up.  Car counts will no doubt suffer. Speed differentials between older UT1 cars and the faster UT2's will result in an increased number of lapped cars and accidents.  I'm requesting for 2014 the Heavy 160 UT2's be equipped with the same Light 160 UT2 plate, before transitioning entirely to the UT2 in 2015.  IMO a one year grace period to utilize last years UT1 engine should be considered.   

For the indoor series in Columbus the Heavy 160 field only averaged between 5-6 cars per meet.   This class needs some help to keep car counts up.

A continued Thank You to all of the continuing well wishes and prayers. Trey continues to improve.

He completed his second full day of school today since the accident which occurred a little over 3 weeks ago. We went to the doctor yesterday and learned that new bone is growing at the break on his arm. His internal injuries will be reviewed again in 2 weeks. He was given permission to go to Daytona this weekend which pumped him up, but then he was told it would likely be around 4 months before he could race again. This was not well received.

Thank you again, we'll look forward to seeing everyone this Summer and Fall.

Could your track use its own customized app to keep all your members updated on event info, schedule, points standings? The best feature about your own track app is the ability to send push notifications to all your members. Push notifications appear on the users phone even if the app is closed. You can send info about which class is up next or general announcements. Your tracks app would be on both markets, android and iphone. I have built a demo app for the Midwest Thunder Series. It is on the Goggle Play store now for download, just search MidwestThunder Demo, its free.
