WESTERN MIDGETS, BCRA COMBINE FOR FRIDAY’S RACE AT SHASTA

USAC’s Western Midget Series, led by Garrett Hansen of Manhattan Beach, Calif., heads for Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif. Friday for a race co-sanctioned by the Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA).

Hansen’s point lead is comfortable, 102 over runner-up Jerome Rodela going into Friday’s race. Nick Foster Jr. of San Jose, Calif. is currently atop the BCRA standings.

Ryan Kaplan won the last USAC Midget race at Shasta, in 2006.

Third-ranking Scott Pierovich is hoping for a better result this year when he returns to Shasta, where he finished 24th three years ago. He trails Rodela by just 28 points in the current standings.
