KUHN LEADS MIDGET RETURN TO TOLEDO FRIDAY
Brad Kuhn of Avon, Ind. leads the USAC Mopar National Midget series to Toledo (Ohio) Speedway Friday night for the first USAC Midget race at the 1/2-mile paved oval in two years. Kuhn holds a 36-point lead over two-time series champion Jerry Coons Jr. entering the "Hemelgarn Racing Supr Fitness Night" race, with Darren Hagen only 48 behind. A total of 74 points are available at Toledo.
The Midgets share billing with the USAC “Thunder & Lightning” Sprint Cars for Friday’s racing program, with 50-lap feature events on tap.
Bryan Clauson won the last USAC Midget race at Toledo, in 2007, and former Toledo USAC Midget winners include Kevin Swindell (2006), Michael Lewis (2005) and the late Jimmy Knight (1957).
Kuhn is the only driver to finish all 13 races in the “top-10” so far this season. He won at Bloomington, Ind. during Indiana Midget Week and has added seconds at Gas City, Ind. and Newton, Ia. and thirds at Knoxville, Iowa and Kokomo, Ind.
