FAIRBURY, Neb. (July 15, 2021)………The USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets’ “Mid-America Midget Week” will come to a rousing conclusion on Friday and Saturday with the Fourth Annual Riverside Chevrolet Midwest Midget Championship presented by Westin Packaged Meats and Schmidt’s Sanitation at Fairbury, Nebraska’s Jefferson County Speedway

Two full nights of competition will conclude with Saturday night’s 40-lap feature winner pocketing $10,000 as more than $40,000 in winnings will be distributed over the course of the two-day tilt thanks to the support of the community.

After a Sweet Springs rainout on Sunday, USAC Mid-America Midget Week officially kicked off with Daison Pursley blasting past Zach Daum and then Kevin Thomas, Jr., to capture his first career USAC National win at Red Dirt Raceway’s “Tuesday Night Thunder” in Meeker, Okla.

Wednesday’s 10th Chad McDaniel Memorial in Beloit, Kansas was plagued by lingering showers and will be contested on Thursday night, shifting the scheduled Shrimp Boil at Jefferson County Speedway from Thursday to Saturday afternoon from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the north side of the track with everyone welcome to join in.

The Friday night card will utilize the standard USAC Midget format of qualifying, heat races and feature events with the Friday night outcome seeding the field for Saturday night with the Friday finish essentially used as the qualifying order for Saturday night heat races to be followed by the championship feature events.

The event is co-sanctioned with the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association and will be accompanied on both nights by the NOW 600/Jay-Husker Non-Wing and Restricted “A” Class Micro Sprints.

After Justin Grant topped the inaugural USAC Midwest Midget Championship in 2018, Tyler Courtney has topped the finale over each of the past two years with Jason McDougal and reigning USAC Midget champion Chris Windom snaring preliminary feature wins.

California’s Buddy Kofoid leads the charge to Nebraska ahead of defending series champion Chris Windom with Emerson Axsom, Justin Grant and Tuesday night winner Daison Pursley filling out the current top five in series points as a stellar field of competitors is expected for the weekend.
