BOESPFLUG GETS #1 AT LINCOLN PARK

The 26th edition of “Indiana Sprint Week” opens this week with a trio of events and Dave Darland enters the seven-race stretch over the next two weeks with a 35-point lead in the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series.

Darland owns more Indiana Sprint Week victories than anyone else, a total of 17 dating back to 1990. He’s won at five of the tracks which constitute the 2013 calendar. Only Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt and the Terre Haute Action Track have eluded him, although he does have Terre Haute wins to his credit.

This Friday’s race is at Gas City I-69 Speedway, while Saturday’s race is at Kokomo Speedway and Sunday’s race is at Lawrenceburg. Darland owns five Lawrenceburg ISW wins, three at Kokomo and one at Gas City.

Jon Stanbrough ranks second all-time with 14 ISW wins, while Cory Kruseman has 12 and J.J. Yeley nine.

Darland will try to join KevinThomas and Levi Jones as the only four-time Indiana Sprint Week Champs. Darland won the title in 1998, 2001 and 2007.

Chad Boespflug of Hanford, Calif. surprised the field in last Thursday night’s 30-lap feature at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind., leading all 30 laps in Paul Hazen’s Kercher Engines/Physical Medicine Consultants DRC/Kercher. The win was Boespflug’s first in series competition and the 10th for long-time car owner Hazen.

Tyler Courtney finished second ahead of Jon Stanbrough, Hunter Schuerenberg and Kevin Thomas Jr.

Indiana Sprint Week concludes with races Wednesday (July 17) at Terre Haute, Thursday (July 18) at Putnamville, Friday (July 19) at Bloomington and Saturday (July 20) at Haubstadt.
