WESTERN PAVEMENT MIDGETS AT MADERA SATURDAY

WESTERN PAVEMENT MIDGETS AT MADERA SATURDAY;

POINT LEADER MARCHAM TOPS AT THUNDERBOWL

Saturday’s “Pombo/Sargent Classic” at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway includes the Honda USAC Western Pavement Midgets, with BCRA co-sanction as Darrin Snider seeks to protect a three-point lead over defending champion Chad Nichols in the latest Western Pavement points.

Snider won at Madera March 30 in first of four scheduled races at the oval.

Honda USAC Western Dirt Midget point leader Trey Marcham of Oklahoma City, Okla. won Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Thunderbowl Raceway, leading the last 12 laps after passing defending series champion Ronnie Gardner on lap 19. Ricky Shelton, Nick Chivello and Gardner all took turns leading before Marcham bolted to the front in the Keith Ford King Racing Products/A & A Precision Machine TCR/Esslinger. Gardner finished second ahead of Chivello, Chris Ennis and Britton Bock.

The Honda USAC Western Dirt Midgets resume action July 5 at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway.
