SPRINTS “OFF” UNTIL JULY 4 AT PUTNAMVILLE;

BALLOU SWEEPS EASTERN SWING BY “STORM”

Robert Ballou of Rocklin, Calif. is the “talk of the town,” or maybe the “talk of the East Coast” after sweeping last week’s Eastern Storm AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car events in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Ballou won all three races contested and now occupies the top spot in the series standings entering a July 4 race at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. His recent success leaves him with seven victories in sixteen 2015 races!

Wheeling the Tom Buch Blakesley Auto Maxim/Ott, Ballou won Thursday night’s 30-lapper at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway, then added wins at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway Saturday and Susquehanna Speedway Park in Newberrytown, Pa. Sunday.

He caught Jon Stanbrough on lap 21 at New Egypt and led the final 10 laps to beat Stanbrough, Tracy Hines, Dave Darland and Kevin Thomas Jr. At Port Royal he trailed Landon Simon for 18 laps before leading the final 12 to beat Chase Stockon, Simon, Hines and Stanbrough. In Sunday’s Susquehanna finale he tracked down Shane Cottle on lap 14 and led to the checkered flag ahead of Stanbrough, Stockon, Darland and Cottle.

The results left Ballou holding a 24-point lead over Stockon in the new standings, followed by Darland, 45 points in arrears.

Trailing Ballou in the final Eastern Storm standings were Stanbrough and Stockon. ProSource fast qualifying swards were taken by Darland, Cottle and Ballou.

Last Tuesday’s scheduled “Jesse Hockett Memorial” at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa. was rained out and Wednesday’s subsequent race at New Oxford, Pa. was cancelled.
