JOHNSON CARRIES COMFORTABLE LEAD TO QUEEN CREEK SATURDAY

Defending two-time USAC Southwest Sprint Car Champion R.J. Johnson enters this Saturday night’s race at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek with a comfortable 80-point lead over Charles Davis Jr.

Johnson and Davis are the all-time leaders in terms of USAC winners in Arizona. Johnson has 23 career wins while Davis has 16. Five of R.J.’s wins having come this year, including an April win at Arizona Speedway. Davis’ only 2015 win came at Queen Creek last month.

After an 11th-place finish in the series opener at Las Vegas, Johnson has reeled off seven straight “top-four finishes while Davis’ only podium finish so far has been his Queen Creek win.

Stevie Sussex, fourth in the standings, has a pair of 2015 wins, while third-ranking Josh Pelkey is still seeking his first 2015 win despite four podiums.
