IMRA MIDGETS AT SPOON RIVER, MIDWEST THUNDER MIDGETS AT MONTPELIER; LAST WEEKEND'S IMRA OPENER AT 34 RACEWAY CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
Both USAC’s IMRA Midget and Midwest Thunder Midget Series are in action this weekend.
The IMRA Midget debut will occur Saturday night at Spoon River Speedway following cancellation of last Saturday’s race at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa due to inclement weather. It will mark the first time that USAC has sanctioned a race at the Canton track.
Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway hosts the 2016 USAC Midwest Thunder Midget opener this Saturday.
Alex Watson, USAC’s 2015 Midwest HPD Midget Champion, is expected to be among favorites in the Montpelier debut. Younger brother Jon Watson, Jacob Taylor, plus Jacob Stickle and Cory Guingrich and newcomers Gage Etgen and Corey Bedwell are also expected to be top challengers.
