WESTERN MIDGETS EYE HANFORD JUNE 25; FACCINTO HALTS GARDNER STREAK AT BAKERSFIELD

USAC’s Western States Midgets are on hiatus until June 25 when they resume racing at Keller Auto Speedway at the Kings Fairgrounds in Hanford, Calif.

Ronnie Gardner continues to lead the standings, but his lead has shrunk to 30 points over Michael Faccinto after Faccinto ended Gardner’s undefeated 2016 season last Saturday at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway.

Faccinto, of Hanford, Calif., led all 30 laps of Saturday’s race at Bakersfield Speedway. He piloted the OZV/Lucas Oil Spike/Chevy to the win over Gardner, Darren Hagen, Cory Elliott and Tyler Dolacki. Gardner had swept the first three races of the season.

Cory Elliott, sixth in the latest series points, won last year’s Hanford Midget race as Gardner and Faccinto took third and fourth respectively.
