IRMA PLAQUE HONORS USAC'S FIRST RACE

Fort Wayne, IN........The Indiana Racing Memorial Association (IMRA) honored USAC's inaugural race by erecting a commemorative plaque Saturday in front of the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, the site of the historic January 8, 1956 race. On hand for the unveiling were (l-r) IRMA Board Member Greg Perigo, USAC VP/Communications Dick Jordan, Carolyn Hartley-Johns, USAC co-founder Brian Hasler and IRMA Board Member Sam Mudd. Hartley-Johns' husband Gene Hartley captured USAC's first race, an indoor Midget race held inside the Coliseum.
