USAC Welcomes Newest Club – from the Desert - Las Vegas Quartermidgets

(Indianapolis) – The United States Auto Club welcomes the newly formed Las Vegas Club to the growing list of sanctioned entities.  Las Vegas has previously hosted USAC .25 Midget events in both 2009 and 2011 at the facility located on the grounds of Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Jeff Hobbs of Las Vegas has stepped forward to re-open the quarter midget club.  The all-concrete, flat track, sits at the foot of the mountains, has ample parking and a nice grandstand area, for race fans.  Henderson, Nevada's Tanner Reif, raced his first race at the 2011 event as a Red Rookie and claimed the 2014 USAC National Championship in the Briggs Jr Animal class.  “Time flies by and we want to utilize this track in Vegas for kids,” said Hobbs.  “I know there are Quarter midget families here in Vegas that have to drive many miles to race.  We are working with Orange Show in Southern, California as well as Tucson, in Arizona.  In fact, we are offering 10 bonus points to our drivers if they participate at these other tracks.  I can’t tell you how much Bob Putnam (CA) and Darin O’Brien (AZ) have helped and encouraged me in getting this club going again.”

“Youth racing is a family in Las Vegas,” said Tim Reichert, President of the Las Vegas Kart Club.  “When Jeff talked with us about utilizing the track again, we were excited.  In just one year, our efforts have grown our 14-car Kart Club to over 97!  We believe that we can grow the .25 division just as much.”

“On behalf of USAC, I would like to welcome the Vegas group.  Our two events in previous years were fun and I’m looking forward to returning to LVMS one day,” said Kyle McCain, Director.

Practice days are planned for January 24th and February 21st.  Opening day is slated for Saturday, April 18th, beginning the “High Roller Series.”  The finale will be a double points event on June 6th.   Raza Del Diablo Practice sessions begin June 27th.   The “Diablo Enduro” will be a stand-alone event, Aug 15th and will feature events with 20 and 50 laps awarding drivers an extra 10 points.   The second series for the year – “Vegas Classic Series” dates begin Aug 29th with a double points finale coined “Desert Dash Enduro” on Nov 14th.  Gates open at 7am for all events.

To reach the LVMS Flat Track – Take Exit 54 (Speedway Boulevard) from Interstate 15.  Turn right to Las Vegas Boulevard North.  Turn in at Entry 2 (Credentials / BullRing) on the south side of the LVMS Facility.
