KANSAS RACES AT BELOIT, BELLEVILLE NEXT FOR MIDGETS;

ABREU TAKES “PEPSI NATIONALS” WITH LAST-LAP PASS!

Kevin Thomas Jr. will lead the Honda USAC National Midget series to its annual Kansas trek later this month after moving into the point lead by finishing third in Sunday night’s race at Sun Prairie, Wisc.

Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian teammates Rico Abreu, Tanner Thorson and Thomas swept the podium in Sunday’s 34th “Pepsi Nationals” at Angell Park Speedway. Abreu, of Rutherford, Calif., snatched the lead from Thorson on the final lap to put his Toyota TRD Bullet/Speedway Toyota in victory lane.

ProSource fast qualifier Bryan Clauson finished fourth and Darren Hagen took fifth in the 30-lap contest.

A total of 21 points separate Kevin Thomas Jr. and Tyler Thomas at the top of the standings. Tyler was ninth in Sunday’s race/ Tracy Hines slipped to third in the points after flipping on lap 17 of the Angell Park feature.

Solomon Valley Raceway in Beloit, Kans. hosts the July 28 “Chad McDaniel Memorial” while the famed Belleville (Kans.) High Banks host the annual “Belleville Midget Nationals” July 30-August 1.
