Throughout his three-plus-decade career as a USAC Silver Crown driver and owner, Randy Bateman has fiercely battled the competition in his familiar number 55.

Sadly, in recent times, Randy has had to endure the biggest battle of life after being diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), commonly referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.”

Now is your chance to support Randy and his wife, Patty.

On Saturday, November 5, 2016, a benefit to raise money for the popular driver and his family wil be held, including a scavenger race, live music, a quilt raffle, silent auction and a spaghetti dinner.

The scavenger race begins at noon at the Murphysboro (Illinois) Police Department parking lot located at 202 N 11th St.  Teams will consist of up to six motorcycles or four vehicles with unlimited passengers.  Teams must sign-in and pick up the clues by 11:45am.  All teams must pre-register by Nov. 2.

The cost is $100 per team.  Please mail your check – made payable to Randy Bateman - to Sarah Junk at 123 S. Williams St.  Ext.  Murphysboro, IL 62966.  For any questions, you can call Tim at (618) 559-4809.

A spaghetti dinner will be held later that night from 5pm-10:30pm at the Murphysboro (IL) Knights of Columbus Hall located at 606 Plum St, Murphysboro, IL 62966.  Adult tickets are just $10 in advance and $12 at the door.  Children’s tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door.  Tickets can be pre-purchased at the Murphysboro Plumbers and Pipefitters office at 203 S 9th St. or at the Murphysboro mayor’s office at 1101 Walnut St.

Dinner will be served from 5pm-7:30pm with a silent auction to follow.  In addition, you may sign up for a quilt raffle where six tickets can be purchased for $5 or $1 each.

Kevin Robert Lucas and Exeter’s Landing will be on hand to provide live music.
