SPENCER SEEKS RECORD #4 AT HANFORD MAY 7 AFTER STAYING UNDEFEATED WITH PERRIS WIN

SPENCER SEEKS RECORD #4 AT HANFORD MAY 7 AFTER STAYING UNDEFEATED WITH PERRIS WIN

Defending AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car Champion Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. will try to set one record and tie another May 7 when the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car series resumes at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif.

Spencer remained undefeated in 2011 USAC/CRA competition Saturday night, winning at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. He hopes to extend his series-opening record victory streak to four at Hanford, while a fourth consecutive win would tie the all-time series record set by Damion Gardner in 2005.

Spencer caught Rickie Gaunt on lap 10 at the PAS and paced the final 21 circuits around the half-mile dirt oval in his Madera Produce/Grubstake Mini Storage Maxim/Shaver. Blake Miller finished second ahead of fast qualifier David Cardey, Matt Mitchell and Richard VanderWeerd. The win vaulted Spencer into third on the all-time USAC/CRA win list with 21.

Spencer’s point lead in quest of a record fourth consecutive series title stands at 29 over Cardey after Saturday’s Perris race.
