CLASSICS NOW EYE WATSONVILLE-SANTA SANTA MARIA

McCLISH TAKES “POMBO CLASSIC” CLASSIC SPRINT AT MADERA

Shauna Hogg leads the 2012 USAC Classic Sprint Car standings headed for back-to-back races June 15-16 at Watsonville and Santa Maria, Calif. respectively. Neither will offer points, however, both listed as “special events” on the Classic calendar.

Hogg finished fourth in Saturday night’s 50-lap “Pombo Classic” at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway and leads Tony Hunt by 12 points.

Brian McClish of Santa Rosa, Calif. led all 50 laps to win the Madera feature, beating Cody Gerhardt, Scott Pierovich, Hogg and Tim Skoglund. Hunt was the fastest qualifier but was first out of the main event.

The Watsonville and Santa Maria events are also AMSOIL USAC/CRA point-paying Sprint races and Mike Spencer takes a 32-point lead over Nic Faas into the events.
