61ST "LITTLE 500" GOES TO DAVE STEELE

61ST “LITTLE 500” GOES TO DAVE STEELE

Dave Steele of Tampa, Fla. earned his second PayLess “Little 500” Sprint Car victory Saturday night at the Anderson Speedway, taking the lead on lap 468 from eight-time race winner Eric Gordon and leading the final 33 laps in his Jobsite Concrete/Classic Corvettes Beast/Gaerte.

Steele wound up leading a total of 176 laps in a race featuring attrition which left only 11 cars running at the checkered flag. Gordon finished second ahead of Donnie Adams Jr., Jacob Wilson and Ryan Litt, while JoJo Helberg earned the “Rookie of the Race” award by finishing sixth.

Former race winners Brian Tyler, Jeff Bloom and Chet Fillip all failed to finish, as did defending winner Shane Cottle, who was involved in a shunt at the start and never completed a lap!
