FAQ Quarter Midgets
-
Why is USAC starting a Quarter Midget organization?
USAC is concerned that racers learn about safety and fair competition at a young age. As their racing careers develop, USAC’s ladder system with Ford Focus and professional series such as National Sprints and Midgets offer a natural progression.
Why will there be a specified tire rule in March 2009?
The rising costs of tires to compete in quarter midgets is staggering to many families and leading to an erosion in participation at events. Additionally, the altering of tires from the factory for competitive reasons results in unsafe racing conditions and sets a poor example for our youth in racing. A spec tire program will help control costs keep the playing field level and maintain the legality of the tires.
We have a local Quarter Midget Club. How do we register with USAC?
The process for Clubs is 4 simple steps, all completed during the on-line Club Charter process:
STEP 1 – Club Information
STEP 2 – Insurance Needs for Club
STEP 3 – Club Fees
STEP 4 - Club Leadership Information
STEP 5 - Payment
The entire Club Chart process should take no more than 10 – 15 minutes. That's it. You can be charted, insured and ready for 2009 memberships from competitors. A $100 Club Charter fee will be collected at the time of registration. An insurance proposal will be generated and mailed within two weeks of registration. Your Club Fee information is used to automatically collect required fees from Members as they register on-line. These fees will be paid directly to the Club on a monthly basis. How does an Individual/Family register with USAC?
Again, another simple process, all completed on-line. Family memberships will start November 1st for 2009 season. Each family can register unlimited drivers (immediate family only), immediate family members as Handlers, and one (1) alternative non-family member/handler. Drivers birth certificates will need to be mailed to the USAC office.
Do I need to join a club?
You will need to join a club in addition to signing up with USAC. The club level is the basis for our Quarter Midget program and it's with them we will work closely to make your race days fun and affordable.
How do I find a club?
If you do not see a club in your region you may call or email the USAC office to find the closest one to you.
What is the cost to be a USAC Quarter Midget Member?
Family memberships are completed and paid for on-line. Family memberships are $75, plus any associated Club Fees. When you select a Club, Club fees are added to your membership and billed. Fees associated with local Clubs are rebated to the Club for budgeting purposes. Additional handler memberships can be purchased for $25.Will there be regional events?
Each district will have a Championship event. Additionally, USAC will host one National event annually. These Championship events will be staggered across the 4 districts so a participant could participate in all 4 races if they choose plus the Nationals Race (track to be determined). USAC encourages clubs to continue their reginal series.
How do I get a copy of the rulebook?
The rulebook in its entirety can be found in the Owners Garage section of the website.
What age can I get started?
A driver as young as 4 1/2 years old can get started in our novice program. No prior racing experience is necessary.
Can I register to be an official?
