“4-CROWN” NEXT FOR SILVER CROWN CARS SEPTEMBER 26
DuQUOIN’S “TED HORN 100” RAINED OUT
The USAC K & N Silver Crown Championship Series resumes September 26 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio as the 29th “4-Crown Nationals” unfolds at the half-mile dirt oval.
Sunday’s “Ted Horn 100” at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds was rained out after heavy rains hit the mile dirt oval in southern Illinois. Officials of USAC and Track Enterprises are discussing re-scheduling options.
Bud Kaeding holds a 59-point lead over A.J. Fike in the Silver Crown standings entering the September 26 race. Kaeding is trying to become only the second three-time series champion is history. Jimmy Sills was the first, winning titles in 1990, 1994 and 1996.
Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. is the defending “4-Crown” champion. He also won the race in 2004 and 2005. Former “4-Crown” winners Jerry Coons Jr. (2007) and Brian Tyler (2002) are also expected to compete.
