POINT LEADERS FALTER IN COLUMBUS .25 ROUND

USAC .25 Midget point leaders had a difficult time finding victory lane during the weekend’s “JEGS Crown Midget Super Nationals” at the Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway, Round Six of USAC’s “Generation Next” Tour.

Jeff Dunfee II of Mantua, Ohio was the only leader to win class features, taking the Junior Honda and Junior Stock main events.

Other feature winners during Saturday and Sunday competition included Caleb Cagle of Canton, Ohio (Senior Honda & Senior Stock), Kyle Compton of Dublin, Ohio (Heavy Honda), Josh Thompson of Hilliard, Ohio (Senior Rookie), Carson O’Bryan of Kokomo, Ind. (Junior Rookie), Brendon Bock of Franklin Square, N.Y. (Light Mod), newcomer Cody Coughlin of Delaware, OH (Heavy Mod) and upset winner Jared Fryar of Trinity, N.C. (Heavy 160).

Rain forced postponement of Sunday’s scheduled feature events for Light and Heavy World Formula, Light and Heavy AA, Light B and Half classes as well as the Briggs Animal Exhibition. Those events have been rescheduled at CMS October 18.

USAC .25 Midget point leaders after the weekend action are: Dunfee (Junior Honda and Junior Stock), Ross Rankine of Willard, OH (Senior Honda), Josh Daugherty of Pendleton, IN (Heavy Honda), Cooper Clouse of Ohio City, OH (Senior Stock), Nathan McCauley of Millersport, OH (Light Mod), Gage Walker of Fairland, IN (Light World Formula and Light 160), Craig Swartz of New Paris, OH (Heavy World Formula and Heavy AA), Noah Gallandt of Bay City, MI (Heavy B), Ryan Fleming of Xenia, OH (Light B), Erica Newcombe of Pickerington, OH (Light AA), Justen Garmenn of Grand Rapids, MI (Heavy 160), Cody Coughlin of Delaware, OH (Heavy Mod) and Daniel Hall of Columbus, OH (Half).

A large turnout of cars was on hand for the Columbus events, held on the track located behind the third-mile paved oval.

In addition to the racing action, several .25 Midget drivers were also given an opportunity to test drive a USAC Ford Focus car.
