VALLEY OF THE SUN QUARTER MIDGETS JOIN USAC's MOPAR .25 FAMILY

VALLEY OF THE SUN QUARTER MIDGETS JOIN USAC’s MOPAR .25 FAMILY

One of America’s most picturesque race tracks has joined the USAC fold for 2011, with the announcement of racing under the USAC Mopar .25 banner for the Valley of the Sun Quarter Midget Association in Phoenix, Ariz.

Competing on a track nestled among the hillsides of famed South Mountain, the Valley of the Sun club will host the 2011 USAC ”Generation Next” Championship opener March 11-13.

“Phoenix has always been a destination for USAC racers,” says USAC Developmental Racing Director James Spink. “The addition of the Phoenix club to our Mopar .25 family extends our rich racing heritage in the Grand Canyon State and in the Valley of the Sun. Opening our Generation Next tour there will offer our competitors a great vacation opportunity as well as some great competition.”

Bryant Dawson, the track’s 2010 Light 160 Champion, was honored on December 3 at USAC’s “Night of Champions” banquet in Indianapolis, Ind. as the 2010 USAC “Generation Next” Class B Champion. Dawson scored B feature victories at San Bernardino, Calif., Tampa, Fla. and Columbus, Ohio and added a Mod Class win at Columbus and a Light AA Class win at “Little E,” Tony Stewart’s new track at Eldora Speedway in Ohio.

“VSQMA is looking forward to running under the USAC banner and the many opportunities that USAC will bring to our club,” added VSQMA President Marty Tait.
