RAIN POSTPONES “HUT HUNDRED”

Honda USAC National Midget Series participants are gearing up for the upcoming five-race “Indiana Midget Week” scheduled at five different Hoosier dirt ovals June 12-16.

Last Friday night’s “Hut Hundred” at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill., co-sanctioned by Powri, fell victim to the elements as heavy rain and storms battered the St. Louis area. USAC, Powri and track officials are studying options regarding rescheduling of the event.

“Indiana Midget Week” begins on Wednesday night, June 12 at Gas City I-69 Speedway and continues Thursday night at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Friday night at Bloomington, Saturday night at Lawrenceburg and Sunday night at Kokomo.

Defending Honda USAC National Midget Champion Darren Hagen won last year’s “Indiana Midget Week” title. Previous champions were Shane Cottle (2005-2006), Jerry Coons Jr. (2007), Tracy Hines (2008 and co-champion in 2010), Bryan Clauson (2009 and 2011) and Brad Kuhn (co-champion in 2010).
