VANDER WEERD WIRE-TO-WIRE IN "SOKOLA SHOOTOUT"

Perris, CA........Richard Vander Weerd of Visalia, Calif. led all 30 laps to win Saturday night's "Sokola Shootout," the opening event for the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at Perris Auto Speedway.  Defending series champion Damion Gardner finished second and coupled with his qualifying and heat race points he has vaulted into the points lead after race one. USAC Southwest Sprint Car Champion R.J. Johnson finished third ahead fo Austin Williams and Brody Roa.
