USAC WESTERN STATES & NATIONAL MIDGETS CLASH AT BAKERSFIELD

NOVEMBER 13, 2018... The Light Up The World USAC Western States Midgets presented by CBD Living Water will clash with the P1 Insurance USAC National Midgets at Bakersfield Speedway this Saturday, November 17th. Promoted by Scott Schweitzer, the eleventh point race will also feature the California Lightning Sprints, Hobby Stocks, and Mini Stocks. The Pit Gates will open at 3:00pm, the Front Gates will open at 4:00pm, and Racing is scheduled for 6:00pm at "The West's Fastest 1/3-Mile High Banked Clay Oval." Since July 3, 1987, Bakersfield Speedway has hosted 109 USAC Western States Midget races and P.J. Jones claimed the inaugural victory. Former champions Sleepy Tripp and Robby Flock are tied for the series lead with eight Bakersfield wins and Ricky Shelton set the track record of 12.339 on June 21, 1997. Rain washed out the March 17th season opener with BCRA and Michael Faccinto was victorious on June 16th. A complete Bakersfield series win list is at the bottom of this release.

Heading to Bakersfield, Michael Faccinto (Hanford, CA) has a slim 2-point lead over the competition. Piloting the Dodenhoff Motorsports’ #9D Lightning Medical / Rocket Sports & Entertainment Spike, Faccinto was the Saldana Racing Products / Racing Optics Hard Charger at Ventura Raceway on October 27th with a twenty-first to sixth place run. At press time, the 2016 Louie Vermeil Classic Winner has posted three feature wins, two Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Awards, two heat race victories, nine top-10 finishes, and 64 feature laps led in the campaign. Michael eight career victories and will be looking to extend his point lead with a victory this Saturday night.

Alex Schutte (Redding, CA) ranks second in the chase for the championship. Driving the Schutte/McElwee #28 Proficio / Ontario West Spike, Schutte was the fast qualifier at Ventura Raceway and scored fourth in the main event. To date, the 2010 champion has two feature wins, two Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Awards, seven heat race victories, eight top-10 finishes, and 43 feature laps led on the season. Alex has eight career series wins and will have his sights on reclaiming the point lead with a win at Bakersfield Speedway.

Robby Josett (Santa Clarita, CA) sits third in the Light Up The World Beverages point standings. Piloting his #2 Walker Air Filtration / Morse Muffler Spike, Josett had engine problems and scored twenty-third on October 27th after an early exit. At press time, Robby has one Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award, one heat race victory, one Saldana Racing Products / Racing Optics Hard Charger Award, seven top-10 finishes, and five feature laps led to his credit. Robby has four career USAC wins and will be looking to add another trophy to his collection. 

Robert Dalby (Anaheim, CA) is fourth in the championship point chase. Racing the family owned #4D R-D Spring & Stamping / Monster Seal Spike, Dalby finished eighteenth at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. At press time, the young driver has one heat race victory, seven top-10 finishes, and 17 feature laps led on the season. This Saturday night, Robert will have his sights on earning the first career USAC victory at Bakersfield.

C.J. Sarna (Palm Desert, CA) has climbed to fifth in the USAC Western States Midget point standings. Piloting his #20 Cactus Jack’s / Final Final Clothing Spike, Sarna charged to a seventh place finish from eighteenth at Ventura. To date, the 2007 Co-Rookie of the Year has posted eight top-10 finishes in the campaign. The second generation driver has one career victory and will be looking to gain valuable points with the Saturday night triumph.

Currently seventh in points, Kyle Beilman (Mar Vista, CA) leads the chase for Rookie of the Year honors. Daniel Anderson (Riverside, CA) is also in contention.

Among the other drivers expected to be in action are David Prickett, Shannon McQueen, Frankie Guerrini, Randi Pankratz, Clayton Ruston, “Fireball” Maria Cofer, Jake Swanson, Marvin Mitchell, Cody Swanson, Dylan Ito, Ashley Hazelton-Heredia, and more. 

Logan Seavey (Sutter, CA) leads the USAC National Midget Series point chase. “The Macho Man” Brady Bacon, Chad Boat, Tyler Courtney, Justin Grant, Spencer Bayston, Tanner Carrick, Kevin Thomas Jr., Zeb Wise, and Ryan Robinson round out the top-10 in points.
