Fremont, Ohio (June 28, 2025)………Bryce Massingill emerged from a late-race ruckus to win Saturday night’s USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget feature at Ohio’s Fremont Speedway.
The defending series champion from Troy, Ohio started fourth on the grid for the 25-lap feature as Zach Wigal led the opening 15 circuits from the pole.
On the lap 16 restart, fifth starting Luke Hall charged under Wigal to take over the top spot. With six laps remaining, Hall drifted sideways right in the middle of the racetrack in turns one and two. Massingill center punched Hall right on the left side nerf bar, which refired Hall, and all were able to continue on.
However, with five laps to go, Massingill used a powerful run down the back straight to swipe the lead from Hall. Moments later, Wigal followed suit into second as Hall’s car suddenly seemed to lose a little bit of power, dropping him to third.
On the final lap, Wigal made one last ditch effort for the win, sliding across the nose of Massingill for the lead in turns one and two. As the two made bumper-to-bumper contact, Wigal slid up the track and Massingill dipped under to retain the lead and race onward to victory.
Massingill was followed to the line by Wigal with Hall third, VMS Fast Qualifier Jakeb Boxell fourth and Tyler Nelson fifth.
