RAIN HALTS FRIDAY’S USAC REGIONAL MIDGETS AT GAS CITY, GEHRKE CLAIMS SERIES TITLE
Gas City, Indiana (October 22, 2021)………Rain halted the Fall Festival of Speed at 10pm Friday night at Indiana’s Gas City I-69 Speedway, forcing cancellation of the A-main for the USAC Midwest Regional Midgets.
With the event serving as the season finale, the rain brings a conclusion to the 2021 campaign with Chett Gehrke capturing his second consecutive series championship by a 68-point margin.
Gehrke (Broken Arrow, Okla.), Ronnie Gardner (Corona, Calif.) and Kyle Simon (Covington, Ohio) each won heat races. Matt Westfall (Pleasant Hill, Ohio) recorded the fastest qualifying time.
