"LITTLE HOOSIER 100" AUGUST 6-7 AT LAKEVILLE FOR .25s

RHODES, NERVO “DOUBLE UP” IN THE “BATTLE AT THE BRICKYARD”

 


USAC’s “Generation Next Tour” for Mopar .25 Midgets now eyes the August 6-7 :Little Hoosier Hundred” at Newton Park in Lakeville, Ind., round 10 of the 12-round championship, after completing a very successful “Battle at the Brickyard” last week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.


 


“What a tremendous week for our Mopar .25 Midget families, said USAC’s James Spink. “We had drivers from Connecticut to California and everywhere in between racing with us last week.”


 


Two drivers “doubled up” with victories in two classes in the event held in the shadow of the famed IMS Pagoda in Indianapolis.


 


Famous Rhodes of San Jose, Calif. and Frankie Nervo of Stow, Ohio claimed a pair of victories apiece in the event which drew 287 cars. Rhodes won in Junior Animal and Junior Stock classes, while Nervo was victorious in Senior Animal and Light World Formula.


 


Drivers from nine states prevailed in class competition at the “Brickyard.” Indiana was represented in victory lane by Zeb Wise of Angola (Junior Honda) and Gage Walker of Fairland (Light AA). Nervo was joined by Ohio’s Richie Streicher of Bluffton (Heavy AA) and Tyler Shullick of Vermillion (Heavy World Formula).


 


Jared Irvan of Midland, N.C. won the Senior Honda A-Main, while Wil Raber of Allegan, Mich. triumphed in Heavy Honda. Michael Fanelli of Rio Rancho, N.M. was the Unrestricted Animal champ and Brendon Bock of Franklin Square, N.Y. won in Mod. Florida’s Garrett Jones (West Palm Beach) was the Light 160 winner and Katlyn Stanley of Concord, N.C. won in Heavy 160. The Class B winner was Ryan Krachun of Neshanic, N.J. Rookie winners included Brook Vallerand, Caitlin Smith and Chase Anderson.


 


The Mopar .25 Midget series will be back in action this week at Eldora Speedway’s “Little E”for round #2 of the USAC Dirt Triple Crown series.
