GEORGE ZAROUNIAN, 93

George Zarounian of Visalia, Calif., a long-time USAC car owner, has died at age 93. He operated Zarounian Cadillac/Oldsmobile/Isuzu for 44 years. Zarounian Motorsports, which includes George’s son Gary, has 15 career USAC Silver Crown victories and 11 wins in the National Midget series, Sleepy Tripp notched more than 80 Western and National Midget wins for the Zarounians between 1983 and 1993. The last Zarounian Silver Crown victory came with Bud Kaeding at Tulsa in 2003 and other Silver Crown Zarounain wins were posted by Donnie Beechler, J.J. Yeley and Kasey Kahne.
