“HUSTLE ON THE HIGH BANKS” FRIDAY AT BELLEVILLE

“HUSTLE ON THE HIGH BANKS” FRIDAY AT BELLEVILLE;

“VOGLER CLASSIC” EXTENDS TANNER SWANSON STREAK

USAC’s Silver Crown Championship cars return to the famed Belleville (Kans.) High Banks Friday for the third “Hustle on the High Banks.” A practice session for the Silver Crown cars will accompany Thursday night’s opening night of the “Belleville Midget Nationals” and Friday’s Silver Crown race is 50 laps around the spectacular half-mile dirt oval.

Kody Swanson, who leads the series standings and is in search of a second consecutive series championship, is the defending champion of the Belleville race. He enters Friday’s race with a 58-point lead over runner-up Aaron Pierce.

Swanson finished second to his brother Tanner in Thursday night’s 100-lap “Rich Vogler Classic” at Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg, Ind. Kody led 63 laps but succumbed to Tanner’s charge on lap 66 as Tanner led the final 35 laps in his Banjo Liquid Handling Products/Bowman Elmore Beast/Kistler Chevy.

NASCAR star Ryan Newman, who started alongside pole sitter Pierce at the start, finished third in Thursday’s race ahead of Bobby Santos and Chris Windom. Pierce finished sixth.

Tanner’s victory was his fourth in the last five USAC Silver Crown races at Lucas Oil Raceway. He now has led 420 of the last 486 Silver Crown laps at the .686-mile paved oval!
