PERSISTENT BOAT BRINGS HOME B AND W AUTO MART PERSEVERANCE AWARD

PERSISTENT BOAT BRINGS HOME B AND W AUTO MART PERSEVERANCE AWARD

Chad Boat took home the B & W Auto Mart Perseverance Award honoring the late USAC .25 Midget Series Director Kyle McCain.

The Phoenix, Arizona driver earned 14 points during Sunday night’s feature at Kokomo Speedway to surpass Holly Shelton in the special standings that were calculated throughout Indiana Midget Week.

Shelton hung on for second just two points back, but ahead of 2017 Indiana Midget Week Shane Golobic who grabbed third in front of Tyler Courtney and Jerry Coons, Jr.

Points were awarded to the driver advancing the most positions during each night's feature from their original qualifying time. At the conclusion of the Indiana Midget Week finale, the points were tabulated and the driver with the most total points earned the reward.

Boat was the biggest mover in each of the last two rounds at Indiana Midget Week.  At Lawrenceburg, he gained 15 points after qualifying 25th and finishing in the 10th position.  Sunday night at Kokomo, 12 points were earned by the 2016 “Belleville Midget Nationals” champ, finishing 8th after qualifying 20th.

On the opening night at Montpelier Motor Speedway, Shane Golobic and Tanner Carrick each earned 11 points.  Golobic qualified 17th and finished 6th while Carrick qualified 23rd and finished 12th.

Wednesday night saw Oklahoma’s Chance Morton score 15 points with his 24th place finish following a 39th place qualifying run.   Morton was running as high as 12th in the feature when he flipped on the 19th lap of the 30-lap event.

At Putnamville’s Lincoln Park Speedway on Friday, Courtney tallied 22 points by finishing third after a 25th place qualifying run.  Bloomington saw Jerry Coons, Jr. and Gage Walker tally six points apiece.
