EASTERN, MIDWEST POINT LEADERS HUNTER, LIGUORI EYE TOLEDO SEPTEMBER 11

USAC’s Midwest and Eastern Ford Focus competitors will clash September 11 at the Toledo (Ohio) Speedway in a race offering $1,000 to win and $150 to start. The event coincides with the evening’s ARCA Stock Car Series presented by ReMax program at the storied facility.

This special event will mark the first time the USAC Ford Focuses have competed in Toledo, at the track which has hosted numerous USAC Sprint, Midget and Stock car races since 1956. Darren Hagen and Henry Clarke earned USAC victories at Toledo Speedway July 2. The Focuses will compete on the track’s quarter-mile oval.

The race will be the 26th for USAC Ford Focuses in the Buckeye state. The latest winners were Joe Liguori and Scott Hunter at Xenia and Columbus July 16-17. Liguori is the current Midwest series point leader, while Hunter tops the current Eastern standings.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase our Ford Focus series to the northern Ohio race fans and the participants of the ARCA series,” said USAC Developmental Racing Director James Spink. Ohio is certainly a hotbed of motorsports and Toledo Speedway has long been a valued partner. We look forward to what we feel will be an extremely competitive race.”

The Toledo race will offer Midwest and Eastern championship points but will not afford Midwest pavement or Carolina Ford Focus series points.
