JONES RIDES SPRINT "HOT SEAT" TO SATURDAY'S "4-CROWN"

Two-time defending USAC National Sprint Car Champion Levi Jones has a tenuous 13-point lead over Jerry Coons Jr. going into Saturday's 28th "4-Crown Nationals" at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Jones won the title in 2005 and 2007 and has two wins and four seconds so far this season, but his two Eldora appearances did not produce a "top-five" finish. Coons, on the other hand, has eight straight "top-10s," including two victories, but like Levi, has not had the best of luck at Eldora, missing the "top-10" both times.

Jones' Tony Stewart Racing teammate, Tracy Hines, has been the man to beat at the Ohio oval in 2008, winning both in May and June. Hines is currently fourth in the standings behind Cole Whitt.

Whitt trails Jones by 66 points and has a mathematical chance of taking the point lead at Eldora too, with 74 points up for grabs. Whitt has been eighth and 12th at Eldora in 2008 but has feature wins in Pennsylvania and at Gas City, Ind.

A 30-lap Sprint feature is on tap, following the 25-lap Mopar National Midget race and preceding the 50-lap K & N Silver Crown Championship race.
