PERRIS' "SALUTE TO INDY" SATURDAY FOR CRA

PERRIS’ “SALUTE TO INDY” SATURDAY FOR CRA

The 2011 AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series continues this week with Saturday night’s “Salute to Indy” at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

Defending three-time series champion Mike Spencer will lead the series to Perris in search of an unprecedented fourth consecutive series championship. His six-point lead over David Cardey is in jeopardy, however, and he’s only 18 ahead of Matt Mitchell, who ranks third in the current standings.

A victory by Spencer Saturday would vault him to third in the all-time USAC victory list at Perris. It would be his 16th win there, compared to 19 for Tony Jones and 24 for Damion Gardner. Spencer has won both Perris outings this season.

Cardey has a third and a sixth in his two Perris outings in 2011, while Mitchell has had a third and a fourth.

The California Lightning Sprints, Senior Sprint Cars and WRA Sprints are also part of Saturday’s “Salute to Indy” at the half-mile dirt oval.
