SWANSON EYES IRWINDALE CHAMPIONSHIP

FINALE NOV. 27; SMITH WINS 50-LAP SPRINT AT MADERA
Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. emerged with a 113-point lead over JoJo Helberg from Saturday's penultimate USAC Western Sprint race at Madera (Calif.) Speedway and now focuses on the series finale to put a cap on his championship season November 27 Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Calif.
Swanson finished third in Saturday's race, won by Porter Smith of Aztec, N.M. Smith led all 50 laps in his K & N Filters/Platinum Powder Coating Eagle/Losorwith. Smith was trailed at the checkered flag by Helberg, Tanner Swanson, Kody Swanson and fast qualifier Tony Hunt.
Smith and Brian McClish won heat races at Madera.
Hunt, who pilots a Toyota this season, is a former winner of the "Turkey Night" Sprint feature at Irwindale. He finished third in last year's 40-lap race, which was won by Bobby Santos III.
