SWANSONS ODDS-ON FAVORITES SATURDAY AT STOCKTON

SWANSONS ODDS-ON FAVORITES SATURDAY AT STOCKTON

The Swanson family owns victories in eight of this year’s 10 USAC Western Sprint races so it’s not unusual to install them as the favorites for this Saturday’s race at the Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway.

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. leads the series standings and has four wins so far, including three of the last five races contested. Kody Swanson also has four victories and ranks fifth in the points.

JoJo Helberg of Rohnert Park, Calif. won the series opener in April and ranks second in the standings. He’s added a second and three thirds since.

The only other driver to score a win this season is three-time series champion Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif. Hunt is on a seven-race stretch where he has finished no worse than fifth and he owns the last two USAC Sprint wins at the storied Stockton oval.

The USAC Western Midget and California Pavement Ford Focus series are also part of Saturday’s USAC “tripleheader” at the Stockton oval.
