WESTERN SPRINTS MAKE 3RD MADERA APPEARANCE ON "SUPER SATURDAY"

WESTERN SPRINTS MAKE 3RD MADERA APPEARANCE ON “SUPER SATURDAY”

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. leads the USAC Western Sprint Cars back to Madera (Calif.) Speedway Saturday for their third appearance of 2009 at the third-mile paved oval.

Swanson won at Madera last month and finished fourth there in April. He enjoys a 77-point lead over JoJo Helberg in the latest series standings.

Helberg, of Rohnert Park, Calif., won the April race at Madera and could slice into Swanson’s lead with a repeat Saturday. The series also returns to Madera on October 24.

Brian McClish trails Helberg by only three points and looks to improve on his third and fourth-place finishes in the previous two Madera outings.

Saturday’s “Super Saturday” Coors Light Harvest Classic at Madera also features the USAC/BCRA Midgets, plus supermodified and legend racing.
