Peoria, Arizona.....Ryan Bernal continued his Canyon Speedway Park hot streak on Friday night as he backed up his opening night win with a resounding triumph on night two of the 47th Sands Chevrolet "Western World Championships." Bernal locked himself into Saturday's championship feature along with high-point earners Casey Shuman, R.J. Johnson, Robert Ballou, Matt Rossi, C.J. Leary, Gary Taylor, and Shon Deskins.

Bernal started from the front row but saw Jon Stanbrough shoot to the lead from the front row. Stanbrough paced the opening two circuits before Bernal used the cushion to take the lead through turns three and four on lap three. He checked out on the field, opening up an enormous lead as he entered each end above the thick cushion.

A caution with 11 laps complete did little to slow him down, as behind him Rossi drove past Stanbrough for second on the cushion. As most of the field moved towards the top of the track, the only thing slowing the Hollister, California driver was traffic as he tried to put cars a lap behind him.

Bernal finished unscathed and will look to go for the weekend sweep in Saturday's $7,500-to-win feature aboard the Phulps Motorsports - Tri-L Mandarin Ranch #56 ART/Wesmar.

Rossi came home second in the Apache Scapes - Schure Built Suspension #02 Spike/Advanced, and Stanbrough rounded out the podium in the Shon Deskins Racing - MP Environmental Services #20s Spike/Performance Plus.
