PETERSON HALTS GOETZ’ STREAK AT GRAYS HARBOR

The 2013 Honda USAC Ignite Dirt Midget Series debuts this weekend with back-to-back races at Gas City and Montpelier, Ind. Friday’s race is at Gas City I-69 Speedway and Saturday’s race is at Montpelier Motor Speedway.

Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway hosts the Honda USAC Western Ignite Dirt series this Saturday. Last Saturday’s race at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.

Defending Honda Ignite USAC Washington Midget Champion Jared Peterson of Stanwood, Wash. finally ended Chase Goetz’ dominance of the series Saturday night at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., winning the 25-lap feature.

Peterson passed Ariel Biggs on lap four and led the rest of the way to beat Goetz, Biggs, Garrett Thomas and Jeremy Miller. Peterson won the Speedmart Hard Charger award, while Jake Helsel was the NMSPRINTCARHISTORY.com Rookie of the Race. Todd Hartman won the Elma Lanes Pill Pick Award.

The originally scheduled Washington Dirt race Elma, Wash. June 15 has been cancelled. The series returns to Grays Harbor Raceway June 22.
