KAEDING EYES PIR'S"COPPER WORLD" SILVER CROWN FINALE

DARLAND TAKES 4TH “4-CROWN” SILVER CROWN WIN

Bud Kaeding is prepared to put a lid on his third USAC K & N Silver Crown Championship November 12 in the “Copper World Classic” at Phoenix International Raceway. Kaeding’s eighth-place finish at Rossburg, Ohio Saturday left him with a 71-point series lead over runner-up A.J. Fike with only 66 available at Phoenix.

Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. successfully defended his Team Chevy “4-Crown Nationals” USAC Silver Crown title Saturday night, winning the 50-lap feature at the Eldora Speedway. Driving the Jarvis Enterprises/Plastic Express Beast/Foxco Chevy, Darland passed Kaeding on lap six and led the rest of the way to beat fast qualifier Shane Hmiel, Jerry Coons Jr., Cole Whitt and Josh Wise.

The victory was Darland’s fourth in the “4-Crown” Silver Crown feature in the past five years!

Kaeding’s championship, coupled with his 2006 and 2007 titles will make him only the second driver in USAC history with three in the Silver Crown series. Jimmy Sills won the championship in 1990, 1994 and 1996.
