BISCHAK TO RUN FULL PAVEMENT SILVER CROWN SLATE IN 2019

Indianapolis, Indiana (January 4, 2019)………Derek Bischak, who made his USAC Silver Crown debut a year ago, has added to his schedule and will contest all six pavement races with the series in 2019.

Bischak’s racing resume includes multiple Quarter Midget Association national championships and a victory at the Rumble in Fort Wayne Midget race in 2012.  But, with just two races under his belt in a champ car, the 30-year-old driver looks forward to stepping into a challenge that he’s ready to take on in his No. 31 Beast chassis with a Gaerte engine.

“Long races are definitely a challenge," Bischak explained in an interview with Speed Sport.  Running midgets is a lot about shorter sprints or non-stop go's, where in the Silver Crown Series, you have to conserve your stuff and the cars are a lot bigger and heavier.  It’s more mental and being smart about it, but I’m excited for the challenge.”

Bischak, of Angola, Ind., made a pair of appearances in Silver Crown competition in 2018, qualifying 5th and finishing 20th in his debut which ended with an accident at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in May.  In June, at Madison (Wisc.) International Speedway, he qualified 12th and dropped out early in the race, finishing 18th, following brake issues.

“We tried a couple of the races this past year and just had a few issues with our car and getting everything sorted out,” Bischak said. “Going into a new season, with the way the schedule lays out, I think it will work out well for us as we attempt to grow our program and I think it’ll be a really fun time. I’m looking forward to it a lot.”
