FOCUSES HEADED FOR GAS CITY, MONTPELIER & LAS VEGAS

DRAKE, PETERSON, KOSTECKI SHARE ROSEVILLE SPOTLIGHT

USAC’s Western and Midwest Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns series continue their 2011 campaigns this weekend with races in Las Vegas, Nev. and Gas City and Montpelier, Ind.

Saturday’s Western events at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring include “double” feature for both Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns. The Midwest Ford Focuses race at Gas City I-69 Speedway Friday, then join the Midwest Focus Young Guns for a “doubleheader” at Montpelier Motor Speedway Saturday night, which will include "double" feature for both series to make up for the September 10 rainouts.

Nick Drake, Garett Peterson and Brodie Kostecki all scored USAC feature victories at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif. Saturday night. Drake, of Mooresville, N.C. and Peterson of West Sacramento, Calif. won 40-lap Western Ford Focus races and Kostecki, of Roseville, Calif., won the 20-lap Western Focus Young Guns main event.

Drake led all 40 laps of the first Ford Focus race to beat Peterson, Kostecki, Keegan Walmer and James Edens. In the second 40-lapper, Peterson passed Jessica Clark on lap seven and led the rest of the way to beat Drake, Walmer, Clark and Edens. Kostecki trailed Trevor Hunt for six laps in the Focus Young Guns feature, then led the final 14 laps. Drake took second ahead of Hunt, Edens and Sheldon Didinger.
