NORTHWEST IGNITE MIDGETS AT ELMA SATURDAY

PETERSON GETS #5, ALFREY, RANKINE WIN IN MIDWEST
  
This week’s USAC Ignite Midgets spotlight shines in the Northwest with the only scheduled event Saturday night at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash.
  
Jared Peterson of Stanwood, Wash. scored his fifth feature victory in his last five starts in the Northwest series Saturday night at Skagit (Wash.) Speedway. He trailed Garrett Thomas for the opening lap, then took over and the led final 19 laps to beat Derek Holmwood, Garrett Thomas, Michael Millard and Chase Goetz.
  
Peterson’s Northwest point lead stands at 24 points over Garrett Johnson going into Saturday’s race at Elma.
  
Ross Rankine leads the Midwest Ignite Midget standings by 29 over Cooper Clouse after winning last Friday’s race at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway and finishing third in Saturday’s race at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway.
  
Rankine, of Willard, Ohio, passed Clouse on lap 13 and led the final eight laps at Gas City to beat Clouse, Toby Alfrey, Katlynn Leer and Stratton Briggs.
  
Alfrey, of Miamisburg, Ohio, led wire-to-wire to win the Montpelier 20-lapper over Leer, Rankine, Clouse and Sam McGhee.
  
The Midwest Ignite Midgets resume action June 22 at Gas City.
