IGNITES HEAD FOR PLYMOUTH & BANKS

LAMB (2), IRVAN, KRACHUN, COLSTON, LEER & PETERSON ALL WIN

USAC’s Midwest, Eastern and Northwest Ignite Midget series are all in action this week, with races at Plymouth, Ind. and Banks, Ore. The Plymouth feature will be 100 laps, in conjunction with the traditional “Little Hoosier Hundred” Mopar .25 Midget race held at Newton Park in Lakeville, Ind.

The Midwest and Eastern series combine for Saturday’s races at Plymouth Speedway, while the Northwest series visits Sunset Speedway in Oregon.

Respective series point leaders entering this week’s events are Gage Walker (Midwest), Jared Irvan (Eastern) and Jared Peterson (Northwest),

Seven races last week produced six different feature winners, including two for the first time in their USAC careers.

Chris Lamb of Colfax, N.C. swept victory in a pair of 50-lap Eastern races at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park. Rain forced postponement of Tuesday’s race, setting up twin-50s Wednesday. Lamb passed Adam Wilsdon on lap eight of the first 50 and beat Irvan, Ryan Krachun, Tyler Corriher and Bryant Dawson. In the second 50, Matthew Lundstrom led 19 laps before yielding to Lamb, who beat Irvan, Krachun, Lundstrom and Wilsdon.

Irvan, of Midland, N.C., sped to victory in Friday’s 30-lapper at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C., leading the final 23 laps after passing Bryant Dawson on lap eight. Nic Davidson finished second ahead of Lamb, Krachun and Orry Hunte. The victory solidified Irvan’s Eastern Midget Week Championship.

Krachun, the Neshanic Station, N.J. driver who led the first lap of Friday’s race, came back to win Saturday’s 35-lapper at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway. He led the final 11 laps after passing Bradley Riethmeyer on lap 25. Davison, Corriher, Dawson and Riethmeyer trailed at the checkered flag. Irvan led the first three laps. Krachun’s victory was the first in USAC Ignite competition for the former Mopar .25 Midget champion.

Katlynn Leer of Moulton, Iowa earned her initial USAC feature triumph Friday night in Western competition at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif. She paced all 20 laps to beat Austin Blair, Cory Elliott, Jet Davison and Clayton Ruston.

Parker Colston of Lake Elsinore, Calif. won Saturday’s Western 20-lapper at Antioch (Calif.) Speedway, leading the last 18 laps after getting by early leader Elliott, who finished second ahead of Leer, Ashley Hazelton and Davison.

Jared Peterson of West Sacramento, Calif. continued his mastery of the Northwest Ignite Series, leading all 20 laps of Saturday’s race at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. The win was his seventh in eight starts this season as he beat Chase Goetz, Tyler Anderson, Garrett Thomas and Garret Johnson.
