JUNIOR FOCUSES AT VENTURA SATURDAY; FOCUSES AT BLYTHE APRIL 18

HUNTER, GUNDERSON RECORD FOCUS FEATURE WINS


Kyle Edwards leads the USAC Junior Ford Focus Series to Ventura (Calif.) Raceway this Saturday night, while the California and Utah Ford Focus Series are “off” this week, resuming action April 18 at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif.


 


Scott Hunter of Walled Lake, Mich. led the final 11 laps to win Saturday night’s 30-lap USAC Midwest Ford Focus opener at the Columbus Motor Speedway. The race was part of the “JEGS Crown” Midget Super Nationals. Hunter took the lead from Rick Fedrizzi on lap 20 and led the rest of the way in his Brown & Miller Racing Solutions/Kenny’s Components Ascot to beat Steven Intravaia, Joe Liguori, Eric Coomes and Jimmy Simpson.


 


Eric Gunderson of La Jolla, Calif. is the new point leader in the USAC California Pavement and USAC Auto Trader Utah Ford Focus Series standings after winning Saturday night’s 30-lap race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring. Gunderson passed Cody Gerhardt on lap 11 and led the rest of the way to beat Cody Swanson, Gerhardt, fast qualifier Jim Waters and Michael J. Lewis.


 


Gunderson will take the California Pavement and Utah point lead into the April 18 Blythe race.
