COLUMBUS HOSTS EAST/MIDWEST FINALE OCT. 12;

WALKER, GOETZ CLAIM 2013 IGNITE TITLES;

GREENING, LEYDIG, RABER, KRACHUN WIN, RAIN CLAIMS ELMA

USAC’s Honda Ignite Midget series are idle this weekend as the Midwest Pavement and Eastern series gear up for their 2013 series finale, October 12 at Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway. 

Chase Goetz of Snohomish, Wash. is the 2013 Honda USAC Washington Ignite Midget Champion following Saturday night’s series finale rainout at Grays Harbor Raceway. Goetz concluded the series with 13 feature victories, a second and a third in 16 starts!

Joey Greening scored his initial Honda USAC Midwest Ignite feature win Friday night at Gas City I-69 Speedway as second-place finisher Gage Walker wrapped up the 2013 Midwest Ignite Dirt championship. Greening, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, passed Austin Nemire on lap six and led the final 20 laps to win the 25-lapper in his Alfrey Motorsports Center Beast. Walker, of Indianapolis, Ind., took second ahead of Adam Thomason, Cooper Clouse and Nemire.

Blaine Leydig and Wil Raber captured 25-lap Honda USAC Ignite Midget wins Friday night at Ace Speedway. Leydig, of Carlisle, Pa., scored initial USAC feature win in the opener, leading the final 16 laps after passing series point leader Chris Lamb, who finished second ahead of Ryan Krachun, Raber and Tyler Corriher. Corriher, who led the first eight laps, also led the first four laps of the closer before yielding to winner Raber, of Otsego, Mich., who led the last 21 laps to beat Leydig, Lamb, Corriher and Calvin Carroll.

Krachun, of Neshanic Station, N.J., led all 35 laps to win Saturday night’s Honda USAC Eastern Ignite Midget race at Hickory Motor Speedway. Series point leader Lamb finished second ahead of Corriher, fast qualifier Leydig and Fletcher Wolfe.
