HPD MIDGETS AT TOLEDO WEDNESDAY, ELMA SATURDAY;

ELLIOTT, SARGENT, BRECKENRIDGE WIN; RAIN HALTS RALEIGH

The USAC Midwest and Washington HPD Midget Series continue this week, while the Eastern and Western series are “off.”

Austin Nemire leads the Midwest pavement series to Wednesday night’s races at the Toledo (Ohio) Speedway while Chase Goetz remains atop the Washington standings going into Saturday’s races at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma.

Christine Breckenridge of Irvine, Calif. recorded her second USAC HPD Western Pavement feature win of the 2014 season Saturday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring. She passed Jeff Kelley on lap 26 and led the final five laps to beat Michael Fanelli, Kelley, Shawn Buckley and Marina Turner. Buckley led the first 16 laps and Kelley the next nine before Breckenridge took over.

Lance Sargent of Spanaway, Wash. earned his initial USAC Washington HPD Midget feature victory Saturday night at Skagit Speedway. He took the lead on lap 15 when Chase Goetz blew a radiator hose, then led the final six laps to beat Garrett Thomas, Michael Vollbrecht, Chance Crum and Hannah Lindquist.

Cory Elliott of Bakersfield, Calif. won Friday night’s USAC HPD Western Dirt Midget race at Plaza Park Raceway. He passed Ashley Hazelton on lap two and led the rest of the way to beat Marvin Mitchell, Wally Pankratz, Cody Jessop and Hazelton.
