ELMA, MADERA & COLUMBUS HOST HPD MIDGETS;

HAZELTON (2) AND GOETZ SCORE VICTORIES

The Western, Washington and Midwestern USAC HPD Midgets compete this week in events in California, Washington and Ohio. Austin Nemire leads the Midwestern pavement contingent into its final event Saturday at Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway while Shawn Buckley leads the Western pavement regulars into Saturday night’s “Harvest Classic” at Madera (Calif.) Speedway. Chase Goetz continues to lead the Washington series into this Saturday’s race at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma.

Ashley Hazelton of Chatsworth, CA scored a pair of USAC Western HPD Midget feature wins Saturday night at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway. The wins were the 50th and 51st by a female in USAC history. She led all 15 laps in the first race to beat Shawn Buckley, Cody Jessop and Marvin Mitchell. In the 20-lap closer, she passed Mitchell on lap 17 and led the rest of the way to beat Buckley, Mitchell and Jessop.

USAC Washington HPD Midget point leader Chase Goetz of Snohomish, Wash. scored his eighth victory of the season and third in a row Saturday night at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon. He led all 25 laps to beat Garrett Thomas, Lance Sargent, Hannah Lindquist and Michael Vollbrecht.
