WESTERN HPDs AT BAKERSFIELD, EASTERN HPDs AT KENLY;

NOBILE, JESSOP & LOVE SCORE IN MADERA’S “HARVEST CLASSIC”

Eastern and Western USAC HPD Midget competitors are in action this week, with races Saturday at Kenly, N.C. (Eastern) and Bakersfield, Calif. (Western).

Chris Lamb leads the Eastern series to Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, while Cody Jessop and Shawn Buckley lead the Western standings entering Saturday’s race at Bakersfield Speedway. Jessop is the overall Western leader and Buckley sits atop the dirt points.

Dylan Nobile of Clovis, Calif., Jesse Love IV of Menlo Park, Calif. and Cody Jessop of Madera, Calif. all recorded Western victories in last week’s “Harvest Classic” at Madera (Calif.) Speedway.

Nobile sped to victory in both Friday and Saturday’s Western HPD Midget features, while Jessop won Friday’s “restricted” main event and Love took Saturday’s “restricted” feature.

Nobile won Friday’s 30-lap HPD feature, passing Tom Paterson on lap 28 and leading the final three laps. Paterson took second ahead of Tommy McCarthy, Annie Breidinger and Toni Breidinger. In the accompanying “restricted” feature, Jessop led all 15 laps to beat McCarthy, Blake Brannon and Love.

Nobile led all 30 laps to win Saturday’s HPD Midget race over Paterson, Jessop, Ashley Hazelton and Toni Breidinger. Love led all 15 laps to win the accompanying “restricted” feature over McCarthy, Jessop and Brannon.
