DMA MIDGETS RETURN TO BEAR RIDGE SATURDAY; IMRA WINS TO BRUNS, DAVIS, GEHRKE; HEAT POSTPONES SPOON RIVER
Adam Pierson seeks a record sixth consecutive victory in the USAC DMA Midget Series this Saturday at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. He leads the standings by 18 points over Josh Sunn.
The last driver to score six consecutive wins in a USAC Midget Series was Michael Lang in the 1996 Indianapolis Speedrome series.
Chett Gehrke of Broken Arrow, Okla. leads the Speed 2 “Summer Sizzle Series” for the USAC IMRA Midgets after his victory in Saturday night’s race at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa. Gehrke led all 15 laps; Hunter Lane finished second, ahead of Gedd Ross, Jeff Mallonee and Mitchell Davis.
Mitchell Davis of Auburn, Ill. won Friday night’s “D2 Midget Nationals” USAC IMRA Midget feature at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway, leading the final 13 laps to beat Gehrke, Mallonee, Hunter Lane and Aaron Schuck. Mallonee led the first four laps and Chase McDermand led the next three before Davis took over.
Patrick Bruns of Champaign, Ill. led all 20 laps to win Thursday night’s USAC IMRA “D2 Midget Nationals” opener at Farmer City Raceway. Davis took second ahead of Gehrke, Mallonee and Austin Archdale.
The four-race series concludes August 13 at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. after extreme heat forced postponement of last Sunday’s scheduled finale.
