MALTA, KERN CO., SPOON RIVER, SPOTSYLVANIA AND BURLINGTON NEXT FOR SPEED2

MALTA, KERN CO., SPOON RIVER, SPOTSYLVANIA AND BURLINGTON NEXT FOR SPEED2

USAC Speed2 events are slated in New York, California, Virginia, Iowa and Illinois this week.

Friday’s races are Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY (DMA) and The Dirt Track at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, Calif. (Western US Dirt). Saturday’s races are at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. (IMRA) and Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania, VA (Eastern). Sunday’s race is at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa (IMRA).

Point leaders entering this week’s activity include Adam Taylor (IMRA), Jessica Bean (Eastern), Dean Christensen (DMA) and Tom Paterson (Western US Dirt) and Jesse Love IV (Western US Overall).

Dillon Morley of Moline, Ill. became the seventh feature winner in as many USAC Speed2 IMRA races this year, winning Sunday’s 24-lap “Aaron Hull Deery Brothers” race at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa. Brent Burrows finished second followed by Jacob Sollenberger, Jeremy Hull and Adam Taylor. Tyson Hart led 13 laps, but Morley led the last 10.

Tyson Hart of Oauawka, IL scored a last-lap victory in Saturday night’s “Aaron Hull Memorial” USAC Speed2 IMRA Midget race at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. He wrestled the lead from Gedd Ross on the final lap for the win in the 24-lap event. Broc Hunnell finished second ahead of Ross, Adam Taylor and Aaron Schuck. Drivers Andy Baugh and Alex Watson led early laps before Ross and Hart set up the dramatic finish. The events at Spoon River and Burlington also served as "special events" for the USAC Speed2 Midwest Thunder Midget Series.

Adam Whitney of Waitsfield, Vt. sliced Dean Christensen’s USAC Speed2 DMA Midget point lead to just five points after Saturday night’s 25-lap feature victory at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. Whitney passed Jeff Horn on lap five and held on to beat Horn, Joe Krawiec, Christensen and Seth Carlson.

USAC Speed2 Western US Midget point leader Jesse Love IV of Menlo Park, Calif. won Saturday’s 30-lap feature at Madera (Calif.) Speedway. He passes Joey Iest on lap four and led the rest of the way to beat Toni Breidinger, Iest, Tom Paterson and Annie Breidinger.
